Yay! today it rained, well its still raining now as my ever faltering electricity is testament to.

Previously, in my old life(!) I never really had to worry about water, as in, you turn on the tap and water comes out. Here we have a water-well (no government water access for us), the problem with it is that we live up a rocky mountain and the water-well is only 5m deep. Apparently it cannot be dug any deeper due to the hard ground.

Still raining

Its still raining here, daily we must get a couple of thousand gallon falling here, yet in six weeks time they will be complaining of water shortages. Its been especially bad due to the lack of sufficient drainage with widespread flooding throughout the island, luckily we live on a mountain, but I feel sorry for those that live in the valleys where the water gathers.

Coming from Scotland, the 'rainy season' didnt really worry me too much, getting wet whilst outdoors is an integral part of life up-north. The rains here last year werent so bad, yes there were mainy reports in the Bangkok Post regarding massive flooding in Chiang Mai and surrounding parts, but it didnt really get that bad here. any Thai's we know regard last year as not really having a rainy season, well at least not on Koh Phangan, the government water was shut off daily to preserve the reservoir stocks and when it was on it was only at half pressure, it was like taking a shower under an eggcup.
